Hotels in Kolonaki Athens area

Kolonaki is one of the most cosmopolitan areas of Athens. The hotspot here is Kolonakiou Square, a small square that’s a perpetual hive of activity, lined as it is with cafes, art galleries and designer shops. Radiating off the square are some of Athens’ best streets for shopping and going out: start on Tsakalof or Patriarchou Ioakim for boutiques, or Milioni or Skoufa for a surfeit of chic places to imbibe caffeine or cocktails.

Heading uphill towards Lycabettus you’ll reach Plateia Dexamenis which is a bit quieter. Dexamenis square is the home to the chic Saint George Lycabettus with its trendy café Frame and one of Athens’ nicest outdoor cinemas also called Dexameni.

Heading west from here, you can see some of Athens exclusive real estate, mixed in with the elegant restaurants and shops that cater to its occupants. The southern part of Kolonaki is bordered by Leoforos Vasilissis Sofias and there you will find several museums such as Goulandris Museum of Cycledic Art and Benaki Museum. To the south you will find the Byzantine and National War Museums.
